Frozen Sun

12:33 PM

Frozen Sun I finally managed to finish the demo of the song “Frozen Sun”. I wrote this song a couple of weeks ago, but due to my dislocated shoulder, I hadn’t been able to make a demo of it. And then another song (“Hope in the Shadow“) came in between as well.

I wrote this song in a period of extreme cold but also very sunny weather. While walking outside, the wind also started to blow quite hard. It felt so cold that I thought the sun might even freeze (not seriously of course). I felt that “Frozen Sun” would be an excellent title for the song that I was writing at that time.

I’d love to hear what you think of this song.

Hope in the Shadow Demo

02:27 PM

During the past couple of weeks, I was unable to play the piano as my right arm was in a sling. However, I did attempt to create a new bass line using only my left hand. I intended to use that bass line for a new song at a later time. The past few days, I have indeed extended this bass line into a new song titled “Hope in the Shadow”.

My feelings while writing this song matches what I felt during the past few weeks. Even though I was very limited as I couldn’t use my right arm, I knew that is was only temporary. Writing that bass line gave me hope and the knowledge that I would be able to write again in a couple of weeks. And that is what I did.

I’d really like to hear what you think of this song.

Spring Morning redone and with Sheet Music

08:18 PM

A couple of weeks before I dislocated my shoulder, I recorded a new version of the song “Spring Morning”. I played and recorded the piano part of this song live on my own piano. I have also extended the song with a slower intro and an extended intermezzo on guitar. I also formatted the sheet music of this song, which you can also download just like the new MP3 version.

Working on a new song

06:21 PM

Frozen Sun I have been working on a new song for some time now, titled “Frozen Sun”. It will be a song for the piano only. It is actually already at the stage where I could record it, however that is a bit difficult as I am still hindered by pain in my right shoulder and arm due to the shoulder dislocation that happened about four weeks ago. So, please be patient.

End To Loneliness Demo

05:16 PM

When starting on this song, I wanted to write a song about how two lonely people meet. At first they try to get to know each other and slowly discover that they can make an end to their loneliness together. I hope that the song conveys this. I wrote this song in December 2011.

Longing for Spring Demo

05:03 PM

After writing the melody for this song, I reminded me a bit of the song Spring Morning which I had written earlier. Not the same, but kind of a prelude to that song. Hence I named it “Longing for Spring”. I wrote this song in November 2011.

Why Do I Love You So Much? Demo

06:35 PM

This is the first song that immediately put lyrics in my mind while writing the melody. During the chorus, I clearly heard the text “Why do I love you such? Is it the way of your touch?” Hence the title. Unfortunately, I am not such a good text writer, so I never managed to get past those two lines and I even have some doubts about the second line. What is clear to me however is that this is not a song about the negative side of why I love someone so much, but actually about he positive side of the question. I wrote the song in September 2011.

Chéad Demo

04:55 PM

Chéad is the very first song for which I explicitly sat down in order to write a song. I didn’t have any melody in my head beforehand. Hence the title of this song. Chéad is Irish for ‘First’. Furthermore, I also intent to use, for the very first time, a part recorded by another musician in the final version of this song: my younger brother Wilfred is an excellent cornet player (a smaller trumpet) and he will play the trumpet part of this song.

Omnious Demo

01:17 PM

I wrote this song called Omnious around May 2011. The whole day, I had this strange anxious and nervous feeling, like something weird was about to happen. This somehow influenced me when playing around on the piano resulting in the melody of this song.
